Abomunist Manifesto
Bob Kaufman
Bob Kaufman's Abomunist Manifesto, "first published serially in John Kelly's glad magazine, BEATITUDE," proclaimed itself to be "the first and last word from the abominable snowmen of modern poetry." Printed at the Troubador Press (San Francisco) and published in September, 1959 by City Lights Books, the work was followed by two other distinctively formatted broadsides: Second April and Does the Secret Mind Whisper?. Printed offset in an edition of one-thousand copies and presented as a single leaf (87.9 x 19 cm) of white wove paper folded into sixths (19 x 14.7 cm), printed recto and verso with the final two panels serving as title cover and colophon respectively.
