Feldspar
Craig Dworkin
Feldspar (2000) began as an exercise in paper-folding, to see if a three-column text could be written such that it could be read as a grammatically coherent sentence down the first column, again across and down two columns, and conventionally as a complete page with all three columns in view. I was unable to work out the geometry of the folded paper, but the cards in Feldspar document all of the textual permutations. The vocabulary is generated from the phonemes and etymology of the title. A band printed in blue held the cards within a title-page folder and carried an epigraph. Edition of 12.
